SOS began as a grassroots effort after one mother learned too late about the adoption industry’s marketing and facilitation to separate vulnerable mothers from their children. Renee Gelin connected with Lisa Woolsey and together they realized they must reach mothers in crisis to help them avoid unnecessarily separating their newborns via adoption. Together they connected with other mothers of unnecessary adoption loss, adopted persons, adoptive/foster parents & concerned citizens to form a nationwide family preservation focused network. Lisa converted her church to have a family preservation focus where mothers are educated on all facts of infant adoption and supported by their community.
SOS supports parents and their families, providing them with resources to navigate their crisis & build confidence in themselves and their abilities. By empowering and educating families, they realize that they are who and what their babies want and need and gives them the confidence to overcome their temporary crisis.
SOS provides families the ability to make truly informed decisions – eliminating the trauma of separation for the mother and infant and existing and future generations of their family.
